silence -- the nra says its members are shocked and saddened and heartbroken by the murders in newtown and they are "prepared to offer meaningful contributions to make sure this never happens again." no one knows exactly what this means, but the organization has scheduled a news conference for friday. the white house says president obama would actively support dianne feinstein's legislation to reinstate an assault weapons ban. the president wants to close begun to show the pole and ban high capacity ammunition clips. state police tell 11 news there are more than 46,000 assault weapons legally registered in the state. that is about 6% of the total registered firearms in maryland. that number -- more than 771,000. friday's massacre sparked strong positions on both sides of the gun-control debate. joining us live from the newsroom, george -- >> began control side as seems to be gaining momentum when it comes to crafting legislation. that has caused many on the gun advocates tried to stock up. a typical monday at a discount store in baltimore county sees at roughly $2,000 in sales. this mo
